President receives Ambassador of the U.S.A to Mongolia

President Elbegdorj received Jonathan Addleton, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Mongolia, on July 4, 2012, to honor the completion of his diplomatic mission.

During the meeting, marking the 25th Anniversary of Establishing Diplomatic Relations between Mongolia and the United States of America, President Elbegdorj awarded Ambassador Addleton with the Order of Polar Star, in commemoration of his contribution in developing economic and social cooperation between the countries, and advancing bilateral relations.

After the ceremony, President Elbegdorj stated “The year 2012 marks 25th Anniversary of Establishing Diplomatic Relations between Mongolia and the United States. During your six year tenure in Mongolia, you have made substantial contribution to the bilateral relations of our countries. Moreover, I have read a very interesting book of yours about the history of Mongolia-United States relations, which in my opinion is a valuable contribution to the study of bilateral relations of our countries. I would like to wish you success in your future work and happiness for your family.” said the President.

Ambassador Addleton said “I am truly happy that I was appointed to work in Mongolia. I have deep respect for the history, culture, music and tradition of Mongolia. The 150th Anniversary of the first time an American man traveled to Mongolia falls this year. It is also a special event the 25th anniversary of Establishment Diplomatic ties between Mongolia and the United States of America coincide this year. I will have Mongolia and the Mongolian people in my heart always.”
