MONTSAME AUTHORITIES PARTICIPATING IN WORLD MEDIA SUMMIT

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ A delegation of the MONTSAME news agency is participating in the World Media Summit which kicked off on Thursday in Moscow, Russia. It was reported on Thursday by A.Ogtorguimaa, a correspondent of the news agency to Moscow.


The agency's delegation has comprised D.Ariunbold, the acting director-general of the MONTSAME agency; and S.Altantsetseg, the Editor-in-Chief in charge of foreign news and propaganda affairs.



This year's summit has brought together over 300 top managers such as presidents, directors general and chief editors of 213 mass media from 102 countries, including Associated Press, BBC, Reuters, NBC, Al Jazeera, Kyodo, Xinhua, MENA. Leaders of nine international organizations, including UNESCO, as well as the delegation of the European Parliament are taking part in the summit as well.



Within the two-day summit, a forum entitled "Global Media: Challenges of the 21st Century" will be organized by the Itar-Tass news agency. U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and UNESCO Secretary General Irina Bokova will address the participants in the forum. It also will focus on key issues related to mass media all over the world including the development of electronic mass media, the significance of social networks in the present-day world, relationship between mass media and business, and problems of journalistic ethics.



In addition, sub-meetings will be held to discuss role of the press in world political changes, the model of mass media survival amidst the economic crisis and key tendencies for transformations of traditional mass media.



An exhibition called "Russia that we have preserved" on history of media published in Russian language has been mounted in frames of the summit.
