Mongolian athlete wins silver medal in Kudo Championship
The world championship of the most recent and newest type of martial art, Kudo, took place in Cali, Colombia from July 25 to August 4. Athlete of the Mongolian national team O.Ekhbat participated in this competition, successfully representing Mongolia by winning a silver medal.
He competed in four tournaments and defeated athletes from Brazil, Mexico, and Colombia. But he was defeated by a Japanese athlete in the final tournament.
Athletes from 16 countries competed in this championship upon the selection of the International Kudo Federation. O.Enkhbat won silver in the Asian Kudo Cup 2008 and was fourth place in the Russian Kudo Cup 2010. He placed fifth and was awarded “winner in the shortest time” in the Moscow Kudo Cup 2011. He was able to compete in the world championship given those successes.
The sport of Kudo originated from Japan and has developed in over 67 countries. In Mongolia, it started to develop in 2005 and about 500 athletes have become interested in this sport. The International Kudo Federation is working on making Kudo an Olympic sport.
