Hokkaido lends help to “Green Ulaanbaatar”
The “Green Ulaanbaatar” project will be implemented by the Ulaanbaatar city Administration in collaboration with the Hokkaido Regional Environmental Office.
The project will last three years starting from September 3rd 2013. During this period 280 individuals from nine different districts of Ulaanbaatar will be involved in gardening training. The project will see 280 Mongolian youth taught about planting trees from seeds, branches and sprouts and using environmentally friendly technology.
The first stage of the project will take 80 people to Japan for training on how to plant river-bank bushes, aspens and pine. They will learn methods to increase greenery including trees along river banks and streets. These 80 individuals will then be able to train others in Mongolia.
