PRESIDENT RECEIVES WOMEN DELEGATES

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ The President Ts.Elbegdorj received on Monday delegates of foreign countries, who attended international forum on women's leadership.

He expressed satisfaction with meeting the delegates and said Mongolia has struggled for the democracy since 1990 so that to form the democratic open society, and added that Mongolia managed to make the bloodless reforms in politics and economics.

“The democracy of Mongolia is strong and tangible for others. We consider that Mongolia is an inseparable part of Asia's security, development and democracy, and we always pay great attention to this, and Mongolia is always ready to strengthen the democratic principle around the world because Mongolia is chairing the Community of Democracies,” the President stressed.

He said Mongolia is doing all the best to form its parliamentary governance. “There are not many countries in the region with the parliamentary governance. We carried out for the first time parliamentary election in 1990 with participation of more than one party. Since then, we have run parliamentary election for the seventh time. This year's election was special because nine women have been elected parliamentarians,” Ts.Elbegdorj said. Mongolia has become the second country in Asia to utilize electronic devices in the elections, he added.

Present at the meeting were Ms. Roza Otunbayeva, a former President of Kyrgyzstan; Ms. Edita Tahiri, a Deputy Prime Minister of Kosovo; Ms. Kim Campbell, a former Premier of Canada; Mr. Urmas Paet, a Foreign Minister of Estonia; and others.
