Discussion of draft election law postponed
The Standing Committee on State Structure planned to discuss a draft election law on Wednesday but postponed the discussion due to ongoing differences between the DP and MPP caucuses on the administration of electoral districts.
The committee did discuss an automatic voting system and approved further discussion in Parliament.
The head of the Election General Committee (EGC), N.Luvsanjav, said that an independent professional organization should monitor the system, while MP R.Rash said the EGC itself should monitor the system. D.Enkhbat warned that if technical problems arise during the vote, the EGC will be responsible.
Also some members said if a difference between tabulations in paper ballots and an electronic system are noticed during the vote, the courts will give preference to the paper ballots.
