Singing contest to challenge all Mongolian nationalities
The first ever “Singing with the wind” Khoomii (throat singing) contest for all Mongolian nationalities, held with the blessing of the President of Mongolia, will be organized in Ulaanbaatar between 19th and 22nd October, 2013.
The “Singing with the wind” contest organized by the Mongolian Khoomii Association will represent solo throat singers and khoomii groups from 10 countries including Buryatia, Kalmykia, Tuva and Inner Mongolia.
The final stage of the contest, a gala concert, will be held in the Central Cultural Palace on October 22nd 2013. Organizers say that any throat singer, whether male or female, young or old, are welcomed to participate in the contest.
The winner of the Grand Prize will be granted 5000 US dollars and the best band and solo throat singer will be presented with 2000 US dollars each.
During the contest there will also be a research conference on th challenging issues of Mongol khoomii and development in trends.
