New Chinese Drone Debuts in SCO Drill
A Chinese drone has made its debut in the multi-national anti-terror drills taking place in Inner Mongolia.
The unmanned aircraft has been equipped with missiles.
Feng Aiwang is the commander of the air battle groups taking part in the drill.
"The unmanned vehicles shoot accurately. They work effectively in sending back pictures and launching missiles and are playing a unique role in the anti-terrorist combat."
Over 70 aircraft and 7-thousand troops from China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan are taking part in "Peace Mission-2014", an anti-terror exercise being conducted through the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
Chinese commander Liu Zhenli says coordination among the troops has improved.
"We're jointly working together - among the five countries - to take part in different exercises, such as landing aircraft and freeing hostages."
Vladimir Soloviev is the Russian vice commander of the air battle groups.
"The drill is very important; no matter it is for China, for Kazakhstan or for Russia. We have been striving to achieve the goal of coordinated action in the drill."
The drill is scheduled to run until Friday.
