“Parcel of the Moon” by brush and pen

“Parcel of the Moon” is painting that now decorates a place of honor at Blue Moon Art Gallery, part of an exhibit that opened on August 23. That moon created in oil paint is glows with a halo of moonbeams. “Ambition and Expectancy”, “Aspiration”, and “Spirit” are its neighbors on the gallery walls, hanging like wishes granted by the artist, B.Oyungerel.

The aromatic smell of wine and fresh-cut flowers scented the air, and a soft melody from a saxophone was heard at Blue Moon Art Gallery. B.Oyungerel also released her a collection of her poetry at the “Parcel of the Moon” opening celebration. Around 30 artworks were exhibited, which were created over the past 20 years. B.Oyungerel lives and creates her artwork in Japan and she has participated in huge exhibitions in the USA and Japan.

She created verses about her respect for the universe, her father, her mother, homeland, love and life in her book “Parcel of the Moon Word”. Speaking about her poems, People’s Poet P.Badarch said, “It is important that every artist must to be honest with themselves. Artist B.Oyungerel has this attribute, undoubtedly. Both poems and poets are flowers that blossom from the light and thoughts of inner worlds.”

B.Oyungerel said, “Painting should not be only meaningful and beautiful. I dropped my feelings expressed in color on paper. Everyone has a different colored heart.” The exhibition closed on August 27. Here is a brief interview with the artist.

-Why did you name your exhibition “Parcel of the Moon”?

-I think the sun and moon have sympathy for earth and the lives of humans, and that creates energy. That is why my artwork looks abstract but those are real. The sun was eclipsed when I was painting “Pierce of the Moon”. An eclipse means a new sun is rising, so I gave energy to people through the “Parcel of the Moon”.

-How did you become a painter? Your previous profession was as a linguist.

-I did not graduate from painting classes. Everyone can paint. I started to paint after I went to Japan. Then I became an apprentice of the Japanese famous painter, Yagura Hiroshi.

-Did you have a joint exhibition with Yagura Hiroshi?

-My teacher contributed five of his artworks in my first exhibition.
