Mongolia seeks Turkish assistance to build apartments for 5,000 families

The President of Turkey, Abdullah Gul, received the Minister for Construction and Urban Planning, Ts.Bayrsaikhan, during his working visit in Istanbul on September 5.

During the meeting, Ts.Bayarsaikhan noted the successful development of Mongolia-Turkey relations in all sectors and focused on the significance of the official visit of the Turkish Premier to Mongolia last April.

Within the framework of this visit, the minister touched on the issues of cooperating with Turkey on the construction and urban development sectors, in co-implementing apartment projects and programs, introducing new and advanced construction technologies to Mongolia, and to exchange the Turkish experience in redeveloping old settlements. Particularly, Ts.Bayarsaikhan presented Mongolia’s proposal for Turkish government cooperation on intensifying the construction of apartment blocks for 5,000 families, which will be covered by low-interest long-term housing loans.
President Gul said he was satisfied with the successful development of bilateral ties and promised to show support for the requested proposal. He also advised Mongolia to focus on augmenting foreign investments, including the Turkish ones, in order to activate greater construction and renovation efforts.

Later that day, Minister Ts.Bayarsaikhan and the State Secretary of the Ministry, R.Erdeneburen, met with authorities from Exim Bank of Turkey and talked about a 300 million USD soft loan granted by the Government of Turkey to Mongolia for constructing apartment blocks.
