Bogd Mountain forest clean-up
The Ministry of Nature, Environment and Green Development (MNEGD), the Ministry of Defense and Narny Nogoon Navch non-governmental organization partnered up to clean 34 hectares of forest in Tur Khurakh Am of Bogd Mountain on September 3, where the forest was on fire and its woods were greatly damaged, in accordance with Government Resolution 107, issued in 2005.
The clean-up project was carried out in order to relieve the forest of broken trees and branches to prevent future forest fires. Staff of Mongol Tsereg Juulchin, a state-owned factory under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Defense, will continue the clean-up efforts until September 20.
The project organizers said, “Bogd Khaan Mountain hasn’t been cleaned in the past 20 years. The land in need of cleaning among state protected areas reaches 40,000 hectares of land. Though 34 hectares is not much, it is a first step towards further clean-up efforts in forests and other lands.”
