MONGOLIAN STUDENTS TO STUDY IN JAPAN

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A ceremony took place last week in the Embassy of Japan in Ulaanbaatar to see off the Mongolian students who will study in Japan.

With the Japanese scholarship programme they will major in strengthening of human resources.

This non-refundable scholarship programme launched in 1999 in frames of Japan's governmental programme on training 100 thousand foreign students abroad. For the time being, the programme is being implemented in 13 countries including Mongolia, and some 2,700 students have studied in Japan so far since the programme' start.

A total of 209 Mongolians have graduated universities in Japan within the scholarship programme which started here in 2001, most of them have been fruitfully working at governmental bodies and in other institutions such as the Academy of Sciences, universities, the Bank of Mongolia.

This year, the Mongolians included in the 12th group of students will study at the Keio University, the Kyushu University, the Meiji University, the Hiroshima University and the Tsukuba University for master degrees.

Present at the ceremony were Mr Takenori Shimizu, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Mongolia, and other officials.
