Chinese national detained with 13 million MNT worth gold
State Customs Officers of the Customs Authority at Buyant-Ukhaa found 170 g gold and 60 g of soil with gold content valued at approximately 13 million MNT. It was found inside the luggage of a Chinese national on August 4. On that day, the suspected smuggler was preparing to board a flight from Ulaanbaatar to Beijing route on an SA902 aircraft.
The suspect is under police investigation as the case is thought to be linked to organized crime.
