Arti Cameron’s Miss World participation in limbo…again
Miss Guyana Arti Cameron’s participation in the Miss World 2012 pageant in Ordos, Upper Mongolia China, later this year is in limbo over lack of sponsorship.
Cameron, officially crowned Miss Guyana World 2011, missed the pageant last year due to visa troubles and was allowed to hold the crown for two-years in order to fulfill her international l participation
But according to a US-Based Guyanese non-governmental Organization The Guyana Tri-State Alliance (GTSA), It is a month long competition, requires Cameron to be in Mongolia on July 18 for the pageant to be staged August 18 however the franchise holder ,UK based Guyanese Businessman Ken Chung, Ms Aletha Shepherd represent him to date the contributed nothing to Cameron’s participation in the event.
The group said a letter dated July 05 was received from Ms. Shepherd stating that there was no money to purchase her ticket.
“Fellow Guyanese, again Guyana is set to be embarrassed, but most importantly Guyana has a most deserved Miss World, intelligent and beautiful, who has been working hard in preparation to represent Guyana. We cannot present to the world that Guyana is so poor that it cannot fulfill its obligations” GTSA said.
“We are appealing to you, I know that we can do it, and not let this opportunity pass. I am asking to come together and sponsor her ticket. I have researched on Travelocity-cheapest ticket to Upper Mongolia is $3,500.00 including fees and taxes with 37 hours flying time.I am hoping that one of our travel agents can come up with a more reasonable price and shorter flying time. The target amount we are hoping to raise is $5,000.00″.
