PREMIER MEETS MEMBERS OF UNION FOR VICTIMS OF CO-OPERATIVES

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ On Thursday, the Prime Minister S.Batbold received board members of the Union of Protecting Interests of Victims of Savings-and-Credit Co-operatives. They have discussed issues on a possibilities to recover financial damages of the victims caused by illegal activities of the co-operatives.


"A half of the damages have been recovered already under the repayment term. We are searching for ways to compensate the remnaint of damage under the same term. The cabinet has backed in principle a bill initiated by some MPs, and several proposals have been conveyed to the initiators. Although this is a big problem, we will do the best to tackle it," the Premier said. The Premier noted that the guilty people will be punished.


The Union's board members expressed to the Prime Minister for paying attention to solving the problem which has caused financial damages of billions of togrogs to over 8,300 people.


MNT 36 billion has been granted to the victims under the repayment term, and MNT 21 billion has not been placed back yet in the budget. According to a survey, 58 per cent of these people have suffered financial harm of up to MNT 5 million.
