GERMANY PRESIDENT MEETS TS.ELBEGDORJ

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ The President of the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG) Joachim Gauck and his spouse officially received on Thursday the State Head of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj and his spouse Kh.Bolormaa in the Bellevue Palace in Berlin.


Then the two Presidents ran a meeting. Mr. Gauck said Ts.Elbegdorj has become famous for pioneering and strengthening the democracy in Mongolia. It is a pleasue that his very first quest after his taking up office is the Mongolian democratic President, Mr. Gauck said.



In recent times, young generation tends to forget and even ignore the value of democracy, "so we should cooperate in improving education of youths, especially in propagandizing an education for democracy,” Mr. Gauck said. He congratulated Mongolia on taking a presidency of the Community of Democracies (CD) and said Germany is ready to support any proposals and initiatives on strengthening the democracy.



In turn, Mongolia's President Ts.Elbegdorj congratulated Mr. Gauck on becoming a new President of the FRG and thanked him for a respect.



“Germany's help has significantly contributed to developing of our democracy. We do not forget that the government of Germany, its state funds, including the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, has greatly helped Mongolia in strengthening political and legal institutions in times of our transferring to the democratic system,” Ts.Elbegdorj said.



Germany is the biggest partner of Mongolia in Europe, Ts.Elbegdorj said and expressed a willingness to expand the commercial and economic cooperation with Germany and to support the German biggest investments. “Establishing a strategic partnership in the extracting mineral resources and the manufacturing sectors is one of the nice steps to make the bilateral economic ties fruitful. Mongolia has vast resources of renewable energy, and we intend to implement a project on erecting the solar energy producing Gobitec Park in Gobi desert. We want a support from Germany in working out technical and economic justification for this project,” Ts.Elbegdorj went on.



Mongolia's leader said that continuing the traditional cooperation in the educational sector is one of the important parts of the bilateral relations, and added Mongolia thanks the Germany government for backing a proposal to establish a Mongolia-Germany joint university. “First of all, our countries need to augment number of students to study in each other's countries, Mongolia wants to prepare its experts in Germany's universities and institutes in environment, foods, mining and technological fields,” he added.



The President Elbegdorj spoke abouts a "successful implementation of a Mongolia-Germany joint archeological project under a special attention of Germany", and asked the German side to back the Kharkhorin project.



Mr. Gauck expressed a full support to proposals and opinions of Ts.Elbegdorj and appreciated Mongolia's restoring its national pride.



“Mongolian studies are an important matter for Mongolia. I will pay attention to deepening of these studies at the universities of Berling, Bonn, Leipzig, Munich and Humboldt,” Mr. Gauck pledged, adding he supported a proposal on co-financing and expanding Mongolian studies in Germany.



Then the dignitaries shared views on erecting a factory of liquidizing coal in Mongolia, laying a foundation stone of a coal-chemical industry, and tackling the financial and legal matters.



They said the bilateral cooperate in the defense sector is developing successfully. They also shared opinions on the relations and on regional situation.
