Peacekeepers to leave for South Sudan
A battalion of 850 Mongolian Armed Forces soldiers is preparing to take part in peacekeeping operations in South Sudan. Lieutenant Colonel L.Ganselem will lead the contingent. The soldiers have trained at the Armed Forces Training Center in Tavantolgoi. The first detachment of 350 soldiers will soon leave for South Sudan, and their arms and equipment have already been shipped to the country.
The United Nations is sending peacekeeping troops to South Sudan because the country has experienced much conflict since declaring its independence in July 2011.
