Northbound railway transportation test has made

A train with 30 wagon carriages or 2000 tons of Tavan Tolgoi coal which was loaded at Choir station, kicked off from Ulaanbaatar Railway Station on the last Thursday. Development of Infrastructure JVC of Russia and Mongolia, Russian Railway Cooperative and Ulaanbaatar Railway Authority supported this transportation test, with attendance of Mr. G.Jigjidnyamaa, charge the affair of Ulaanbaatar Railway Authority, Mr. V.I. Yakunin, President of Russian Railway Cooperative, Ambassadors and officials from Embassies of the Russian Federation, Japan and Republic of Korea.



The train will reach Japan, Korea through Naushki – Vostochny port. This transportation is a complete test on international freight forwarding logistics, loading and unloading technology and transportation documentation.



If the test go through successfully, Mongolia will avail itself the opportunity to transport its coal through the Russian Federation and export to the other countries of the world. But, as stated by Mr. Yakunin, it is still early to give promises or provide exact time of this transportation for 4679 kms long journey. However, the Russian Railway Authority cut its tariff by 52% and it allows three times cheaper rate than autoroad transportation to China.
