The fastest kart racers in the world zoom into Donington Park this weekend (3-4 June) for the British Superkart Grand Prix.

Superkarts are the smallest four wheel machines to race at Donington all season, but are also among the fastest, capable of speeds of 150mph and can lap the circuit in the same time it takes a modern Formula Three car.

This means that these karts are a total world away from the ones members of the public may drive at local kart circuits and have the visuals of a thoroughbred racer too with full aerodynamic body kits.

Due to their size, the racing is extremely competitive, with the wide expanses of the Donington Park circuit allowing frequent overtaking with several karts able to go into a corner side by side.

Superkarts have a strong pedigree, and were among the first machines that 1992 F1 World Champion Nigel Mansell drove during his earliest years in motor racing.

The Superkarts will race 11 times over the course of the weekend, with three Grands Prix taking place on Sunday afternoon for a number of different categories.

Sticking with the small theme, there will be further action from Mini Sevens and Miglias, with two races for each category for this iconic British machine. Sporty Caterhams will also be racing with three 25 minute races on Saturday and then a four hour endurance to conclude the weekend on Sunday.

Tickets for the Superkart Grand Prix at Donington Park this weekend will be available upon arrival at the circuit, priced at £17 per day, while children aged 13 and under go free all weekend. For more information visit www.donington-park.co.uk.
