Hampshire preparation firm MH Motorsport will head to the fourth round of the Prestone MSA British Rally Championship in Belgium next week with Junior hopeful Oscar Solberg.

After taking a Prestone Junior BRC win at the opening round in March, Solberg and co-driver Patrik Barth will be looking for a return to form at the Ypres Rally, having missed out on a podium position in the last two rounds of the series.

They will be aiming to take their Ford Fiesta 1.0litre EcoBoost R2T to a second victory as the championship makes a switch to asphalt in Europe.

Son of World Rally Championship ace Henning, Oscar is enjoying his inaugural year in the British Championship with the MH Motorsport Junior squad. Stamping his intentions firmly on the scoreboard at round one, a second victory has eluded the rapid youngster on the remaining gravel rounds.

But with the season now in the transition to tar, he will sight the change as an opportunity to climb back up the leaderboard.

Solberg was due to be joined in Belgium by Irishman Josh McErlean who was hoping to make the switch from an ageing self-run Citroen C2 R2 to the sister MH Motorsport Fiesta R2T, giving him the opportunity to shine in a competitive modern car.  Sadly a regulation in Belgium forced McErlean to withdraw from the event but he will now pilot the Ford on the next round in Wales for the team.

Despite heading to Belgium with just one car, Solberg is confident of a decent result to uphold team honours.

“It will be good to make the change to tarmac now and the Fiesta is a lot better than people think on it (tarmac)” says Solberg.  “I`ll use my knowledge of the DRIVE DMACK rounds from last year to help me prepare and it will be a good battle on the stages I`m sure”.

Team principle Mike Harris believes there is much more to come from the MH Motorsport team on a sealed surface.

“We have won over half of the stages completed in the BRC this year and I don’t see that really changing in Ypres,” says Harris.

“The M-Sport Fiestas have a good track record on asphalt and I’m confident that Oscar will be mixing it with the other Junior guys all weekend long. It’s a really harsh event so a decent test this week is important, but I have every faith in Oscar for another good result for the team”.
