Bobby Thompson prepares for racing at Snetterton
- Bobby ready to fight in the next round of the VW Racing Cup
- The VW Racing Cup will support the British GT
- Bobby set the VW Cup lap record at Snetterton in 2015
On Sunday 28th May, Bobby Thompson will be hoping for a repeat of his stunning performance at Rockingham in his #19 VW Golf. Last time out, the 20 year old qualified a staggering 6th tenths quicker than the next best man, earning him a more than comfortable pole position.
The Hornchurch-based racer also set a new lap record in the Miltek VW Cup, as well as scoring an impressive lights-to-flag victory in Race 1 of the weekend.
In preparation for Snetterton, Bobby has been busy with mid-week testing, ensuring perfect set-up for the weekend ahead.
“I am really happy with the Team Hard car and it's set-up,” Bobby said. “It is looking really good and shaping up to be a great weekend - there is the right weather for it!”
Bobby currently holds the Snetterton VW Cup lap record that he set in 2015. He is determined to try and better the already formidably quick time this weekend in front of an expected big crowd.
"The hot weather this weekend is going to be a key feature,” Bobby said. “I am looking forward to the challenge of trying to conserve the tyres. Unsurprisingly, it will be my main objective with Snetterton being mainly right handed corners. It really puts a strain on the front left tyres.
“I am excited to go racing again and it should be a good few days.”
Bobby would like to thank their ever-supportive partners GKR Scaffolding, Braintree Motor Works, Orlight, Amber Motorhomes, Brentwood Brick work, and Solar Advanced Systems
