After winning the two F450 championship rounds, Phil Rowlands was looking to complete the hat trick and secure the GP title. Starting from behind the Division 1 Superkarts, it was Stephen Clark who led the class down to Redgate for the first time with Andrew Gulliford looking to get ahead of Rowlands but having to slot in to third place.

At the end of the opening lap the positions were unchanged with Gulliford climbing all over the back of Rowlands and getting ahead on the next lap. After losing fifth gear in one of the earlier rounds and having to change engines, Clark made no mistakes in this one and edged clear for a comfortable win and retain his GP title for the third year. Gulliford and Rowlands battled for second place for most of the race.

Lap 9 Gulliford made a mistake and dropped to the back of the field. This left Rowlands in a safe second place, however, a faulty pulse pump had been causing the engine to misfire all race. On the next lap it got worse and the engine cut out on the exit of Melbourne Hairpin and his race was over. This elevated Kevin Ridley into second place who just held off Andy Waite at the flag.
