150 mph Karts zoom into Donington this weekend for the British Superkart GP
The World’s fastest kart racers will put on a thrilling spectacle at Donington Park this weekend (4-5 June), as the circuit hosts the British Superkart Grand Prix.
Superkarts are a complete world away from the karts people regularly drive at local kart tracks around the country, and boast aerodynamic profiling and in some cases, wings and other devices in order to get the quickest possible lap time.
These comparative monsters can hit speeds in excess of 150mph and are pure race machines designed to compete on full length circuits. Despite being the smallest machines to race at Donington this year, they are capable of lapping just as quickly as Formula Three cars, and due to their size, put on a spectacular display of slipstreaming and overtaking.
Superkarts are even famed for producing F1 stars – British hero Nigel Mansell competed in the category in his formative years and of course went on to become F1 champion in 1992.

A total of eight Superkart races will take place across the weekend with six on Sunday, including the Grands Prix for three different Superkart categories.
It’s not just Superkarts in action this weekend, there will also be supercars too!
The Dunlop Endurance Championship will feature on Saturday, with a three hour race with an impressive grid of cars from the likes of Ferrari, Aston Martin, Porsche, Lamborghini and Mosler.

Production cars will do battle in the Dunlop GT and Production Championship, with two races on Sunday plus action from up and coming drivers in the Junior Saloon Car Championship.
