2016 DMACK Carlisle Stages route unveiled
The route for the 2016 DMACK Carlisle Stages (Saturday 11 June) has been unveiled and will include two stages of more than 13 miles in length.
With continued title sponsorship from DMACK, the event will offer 42 stage miles in the Kershope and Newcastleton complexes for contenders in the BTRDA Rally Series and several regional championships. The entry fee has been set at £480, reducing to £430 for Rally First contenders.
The route will feature just eight miles of double-used stages and the route has been designed to limit the double-usage to the strongest roads. In response to competitor feedback from the 2015 rally, the Chamot Hill stage will not be used.
The Roger Albert Clark Rally Motor Club event will be based at the premises of H&H Auctions in Carlisle, close to junction 43 of the M6. The first car will start at 8am on Saturday and return to the finish at around 2.30pm. Scrutineering and documentation will run from 2pm until 7pm on Friday afternoon.
The action starts with a 3.5-mile stage known as Florida before a 13.5-mile stage in Newcastleton. SS3 is a 5-miler in Ash Park before cars return to Rally HQ for the main service. The second loop starts with a 14.5-mile stage in Kershope before a second run through Ash Park. Only 2.5 miles of the stages in Newcastleton and Kershope will overlap.
Clerk of the Course Nicola Heppenstall said: None of the stages have been used since the 2015 Carlisle Stages and were all re-graded shortly after that event. The stages have had 12 months to settle and are in prime condition.
The rally will be a round of the Ravenol BTRDA Rally Series, the MSA English Rally Championship, the BTRDA Rally Challenge, the S G Petch Association of North East and Cumbria Car Clubs Stage Rally Championship, the Motoscope Northern Historic Rally Championship and the Association of Northern Car Clubs Forest Challenge.
The DMACK Carlisle Stages will be organised by the Roger Albert Clark Rally Motor Club. Event regulations will be available from www.racrally.org during the weekend of 16/17 April.
