CWA hold seminar on Mongolia
State International Officer, Mrs Joy Granger, gave a Welcome to Country before welcoming all present at the Country of Study Seminar on Mongolia held on Saturday, January 30.
Several members from CWA SWG attended.
The National Anthems and Motto were recited and the day commenced.
The Secretary to the Ambassador gave an introduction to the day.
He was followed by Pro. Li Narangoa.
She teaches courses in Japanese history and language, Mongolian history as well as broader thematic courses including 'Lies, Conspiracy and Propaganda'.
Her current research interests include Japan's relations with other Asian countries.
After morning tea, Mrs Losolsuren Byambaa gave a talk.
Mrs Byambaa is the wife of the Ambassador of Mongolia, H E Mr Batlai Chuluunhuu and mother of two daughters.
Before lunch Mongolian Fashions were paraded.
Beautiful outfits including wedding attire and children's wear were displayed.
After lunch Mr Peter Sloane, retired Consul General to Mongolia and agricultural expert who has travelled 27 times to Mongolia since the 1960's, gave a very interesting talk on all things Mongolian called Mongolia Land of Blue Sky.
Many Mongolians live in China.
According to Mr Sloane the Great Wall of China was built to keep horses out, not people.
Mrs Ruth Shanks, World President of ACWW, spoke on the work being done in Mongolia helping women farmers to grow crops in greenhouses.
On show were a collection of items from Mongolia belonging to well-known photographer, Peter Sykes.
A very successful seminar was completed with an enjoyable Gala Dinner.
