Open for Public Comments: Finalists’ Proposals for Grants on Social Accountability initiatives
Between November 2013 and January 2014, the Global Partnership for Social Accountability (GPSA) launched its second Call for Proposals on Social Accountability for CSOs in 33 countries to win grants ranging from US$ 500,000 - US$ 1,000,000.
Civil Society Organizations from Mongolia submitted a total of 9 proposals. From this pool, the proposal “Transparency and Accountability in Mongolian Education” from Globe International, a NGO in Mongolia, has been preselected as one of 8 finalists for a GPSA grant.
Selections were made by the GPSA Steering Committee, based on the reviews by a group of technical experts worldwide; and information on the submitted proposals, selection process and roster of experts can be found on the GPSA website. The GPSA received 428 proposals from 33 countries in this round.

In Mongolia, the GPSA Social Accountability proposals from CSOs that addressed the following areas:
Monitor construction and/or maintenance of roads and public buildings from the planning phase to the delivery, including budgeting and procurement. The information produced will be used by local governments, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Construction and Road Agencies to improve the quality of roads and public buildings.
Monitor and evaluate the quality of the education service to stimulate parental involvement and citizen demand for school performance, by
improving the availability of information to parents and the public on the quality of service delivery;
using different mechanisms to make such information accessible to schools, communities, regions, and national stakeholders; and
assessing the impact of such information dissemination. The information produced will be used by the Ministry of Education and local governments to improve the education services at the aimag and the National level.
The public disclosure period of the proposals is now open
Now you can review and comment on the pre-selected proposal during a five-day public disclosure period. The GPSA takes all comments received into consideration before giving the final approval of the project. The disclosure period will end on May 10, 2014.
