Races of Gran Turismo 6: International A
(UPDATED: December 22, 2015)
Welcome to the International A races! It's the final challenge before the Super races. You've proven yourself through a brutal International B slate of races. You now must brace yourself for even more brutal racing across some intense series and championships. Don't overwhelm yourself or stress these events more than you should, though. This class of races is more like your chance to step up like never before. Having said this, it is time to look at the International A set of races.
First of all, the experience system from Gran Turismo 5 is no more. You now have to collect Stars to advance. You earn a Star when you place 3rd or better in any official race. If you just finish a race (meaning finishing 4th or worse), you earn a Star. Obviously, you want to get the maximum three Stars. How do you get those three Stars? Simple- win the race! Even though it is easier said than done to collect the maximum three Stars for each race, it is not impossible, either.
You don't need to clear every race to advance to the next class of races. As long as you unlock the License Tests, all you need to do to advance to the next set of races is to clear all of the License objectives to go to the next set of races. You need licenses to unlock other races and other features of the game, such as Seasonals and being able to race in Online Lobbies. So if you want to have a chance to complete Gran Turismo 6, earn your licenses to give yourself the best chance to complete your legacy!
It used to be that you could compete in an individual round of a championship. In Gran Turismo 6, you must compete in a Championship and win that Championship to be able to compete in an individual race of that specific Championship.

There are a total of 573 stars to obtain. Races other than the official events (such as Coffee Break Challenges and License Tests) do not reward Stars. I want to document the races to help you reach that 573 Star mark. To help you get to that mark, let my guide help you. Keep reading to check out the races of GT6!
^ You're in trouble now with these challenging races! However, victory is not impossible by any stretch of the imagination.
STARS TO OBTAIN: 159
Before you take a look at the races ahead of you, I must make one note. Not all series are available here. Two race series in International A must be unlocked by completing two other series. Counting the final event of International A, you are looking at 13 championships. The events all consist of long races against fierce opposition. If you thought International B was tough, wait until you run the International A races! Big payouts and glory await you should you manage to succeed and thrive in this set of races. You will be racing against as many as the full pack of 16 cars. There are more championships in this series of races than in any level of racing you've taken part in so far. In other words, prepare to get real.
Here are the races of this series:
• World Circuit Tour (5 races)
• 15 Minute Races (3 races)
• Rainmasters (3 races)
• Dream Car Championship (5 races)
• GT Kart Championship 125 Shifter (3 races)
• 550 PP World Touring Car Championship (3 races)
• 600 PP World Touring Car Championship (3 races)
• Super GT300 Championship (5 races)
• Super GT500 Championship (5 races)
• Group GT3 Series (5 races)
• Gran Turismo NASCAR Cup (5 races)
• Like the Wind (3 races)
Success in this series will unlock these items:
• Mission Races (5 Stars Required)
• Coffee Break Challenge (10 Stars Required)
• One Make Races (20 Stars Required)
• GT World Championship (25 Stars Required)
You need 25 Stars in this series to unlock the GT World Championship. And then, you must win the GT World Championship to unlock the Super License tests.
Each heading introduces you each set of races. Single Race events have a period, and Championships have exclamation points. Each heading in braces must be unlocked to be accessed.
The World Circuit Tour debuted in Gran Turismo 4, and it was a set of races all taking place on real-world circuits. The series also featured some of the fastest race cars competing on these courses. It was offered as a Seasonal in Gran Turismo 5. So with its inclusion in GT4 and GT5, this is the third Gran Turismo to feature the World Circuit Tour. NO fictional courses make up this lineup of races. You can actually visit these real racing facilities if you were to travel. Your ability to properly race on these real race tracks will determine success or failure. A race car is recommended, but you don't need any of the seriously powerful ones. Just find a race car within the 600pp limit.
REQUIREMENTS:
• 600pp or less
• Racing Hard (or less) tires
RACES:
• Twin Ring Motegi Road Course (5 laps)
• Brands Hatch Grand Prix Circuit (5 laps)
• Daytona Road Course (5 laps)
• Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps (5 laps)
• Ascari Full Circuit (4 laps)
This is a series that would make GEICO happy. Though 15 minutes could save you hundreds on auto insurance with GEICO, 15 minutes in this set of races could earn you three Stars should you win. It is possible these events may feature unique time changes as you race around each track. You need to be patient and strategic to try to clear all three races. Apricot Hill is a technical masterpiece, Ascari will be a punishing test, and the Nürburgring Nordschliefe will have no problem pushing your limits. It may be possible that pit stops will be a decisive factor in your 15-minute races in this series. Endure and adapt the elements and come away with the victory.
IMPORTANT NOTE: I am not endorsed by GEICO to describe this race series! I just mentioned all of this this for fun.
REQUIREMENTS:
• 650pp or less
• Racing Hard (or less) tires
RACES:
• Apricot Hill Raceway (15 minutes)
• Ascari Full Track (15 minutes)
• Nürburgring Nordschleife (15 minutes)
Rain is the great equalizer in motorsport. All three races of this set of races are contested under wet conditions, and only rear-wheel drive cars are allowed. It is needless to say this is an expert-level series of races on three intense European race courses. The loss of traction on wet surfaces means that you'll need to get creative to avoid spinning uncontrollably. So you need to be very careful taking on all of the turns. Take the racing carefully. This won't be easy. Remember- you are contending with passing lots of cars AND trying to keep your car stable on wet roads. Easier said than done. You may opt to buy some Racing Intermediate or Racing Wet tires for your car to get a little edge.
REQUIREMENTS:
• 650pp or Less
• Normal Car
• Rear-drive drivetrains only (no FF or 4WD cars allowed)
NOTE: Sports Hard (or less) Tires are required, but not specified.
RACES:
• Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps (3 laps)
• Circuit de la Sarthe 2013 (2 laps)
• Nürburgring Nordschleife (1 lap)
I think Polyphony Digital would define "Dream Car" as any fictional race car tuned by the Gran Turismo team. The Dream Car Championship debuted in Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec, and it has been featured in every GT since. So this inclusion marks the fourth Dream Car Championship in Gran Turismo history. Your opposition will be a lot of the fictional GT race cars. This is going to be an intense championship on tracks around the world. Take note of the 720PP limit. Even though this championship mostly consists of these "Dream Cars," a situation may arise where you are faced with some more powerful cars- like the Jaguar XJR-9 and such. So even though you will be facing the "Dream Cars," you may want to bring a powerful prototype to have a chance to beat everybody else, including any would be high-powered prototype that is in the field of cars.
REQUIREMENTS:
• 720pp or less
• Racing Hard (or less) tires
RACES:
• Twin Ring Motegi Road Course (5 laps)
• Willow Springs International Raceway - Big Willow (4 laps)
• Cape Ring (3 laps)
• Circuit de la Sarthe 2013 (3 laps)
• Nürburing 24h (2 laps)
The fastest-possible racing karts are featured in this Championship. This is the final kart racing challenge among the regular set of races. Make sure you have the Racing Kart 125 Shifter. What makes this kart different from the others? This kart is the only one you can buy in GT6 equipped with a transmission. This allows for some kart racing that allows for higher top speeds than what you're normally used to with racing karts. You are going to be involved in some intense kart racing because you not only have to contend with trying to pass the other karts, but also in trying to show your racing prowess having to race your kart while also making timely shifts. Of course, shifting will not be an issue if you are using Automatic transmission. Because these karts are fast, the margin for error is very great. You must show mastery of skill using these karts if you want to win. It won't be easy, so learn to handle these karts properly if you are to stand any chance of winning. Don't be surprised if you have to run this championship again and again until you eventually get all the Stars. This is the hardest of the kart races.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Racing Kart 125 Shifter
RACES:
• Brands Hatch Indy Course (4 laps)
• Willow Springs International Raceway - Streets of Willow Springs (3 laps)
• Gran Turismo Arena (8 laps)
You can call this championship Gran Turismo's version of the FIA World Touring Car Championship. Touring car racing features impressively capable pure racing machines that very near their road-going counterparts. Most of these machines aren't supremely above their road-going counterparts. For this championship, you will need to find a competent touring car that will help you in your quest for victory across three challenging race courses. Or, you may opt to find a suitable GT car. Just because the emphasis is on TOURING cars doesn't mean the whole field is full of touring cars. There are some GT cars- like the BMW M3 GT2 car that show up in the field. For a fair fight, find a car with great performance that is within the PP and tire limits.
REQUIREMENTS:
• 600pp or less
• Racing Hard (or less) tires
RACES:
• Grand Valley Speedway (5 laps)
• Tokyo R246 (5 laps)
• Mount Panorama Motor Racing Circuit (5 laps)
NOTE: You must complete the 550 PP World Touring Car Championship to unlock this series.
You will be racing the same courses from the 550PP WTCC, but the Performance Point limit is now 650. If you want, you can upgrade the car you used to win the 550PP WTCC to compete in the 600PP WTCC. Or, you may bring a much better car to this championship. You will still race the events from the previous championship- all three courses with the same lap distance. Just be mindful of more intense competition with the higher Performance Point limit. Though the focus is on touring cars, don't be surprised if you see some GT-spec cars in the field. For example, cars like the Ford GT Spec-2 Test Car and the GT500 R35 GT-R Stealth were in the field when I did this championship. Be mindful of this and pick a capable-enough car to challenge this championship.
REQUIREMENTS:
• 650pp or less
• Racing Hard (or less) tires
RACES:
• Grand Valley Speedway (5 laps)
• Tokyo R246 (5 laps)
• Mount Panorama Motor Racing Circuit (5 laps)
Japan's premier category of motorsport is in Super GT (formerly the All-Japan Grand Touring Car Championship (JGTC)). You will only be racing the GT300 class of competition of Super GT for this championship. This is the lower class of Super GT. The cars that race in this class of Super GT are lower-spec machines that aren't as powerful and are more based on not-as-powerful cars. In Gran Turismo history, GT2 was the last real GT that focused specifically on the two individual classes of Super GT. Get ready for an intense five-race championship with these lower-spec GT racing machines.
REQUIREMENTS:
• 550pp or less
• Racing Hard (or less) tires
RACES:
• Deep Forest Raceway (4 laps)
• Fuji Speedway F (4 laps)
• Suzuka Circuit (4 laps)
• Twin Ring Motegi Road Course (4 laps)
• Nürburgring GP/D (5 laps)
NOTE: You must complete the Super GT300 Championship to unlock this series.
Japan's premier category of motorsport is in Super GT (formerly the All-Japan Grand Touring Car Championship (JGTC)). You will only be racing the GT500 class of competition of Super GT for this championship. This is the premier class featuring some of the finest of technology and performance in Super GT. These include the fun-to-drive machines featuring some of Japan's finest sports cars as well as various other incredible racing machines from around the world. You will be racing all five courses from the GT300 Championship and all five courses in order, but one more lap has been added to all five races for the GT 500 championship races.
REQUIREMENTS:
• 6500pp or less
• Racing Hard (or less) tires
RACES:
• Deep Forest Raceway (5 laps)
• Fuji Speedway F (5 laps)
• Suzuka Circuit (5 laps)
• Twin Ring Motegi Road Course (5 laps)
• Nürburgring GP/D (6 laps)
If you want intense GT racing, look no further than GT3-level racing. The GT3 class features racing machines that are very close to their road-going counterparts while not being overbearingly more powerful than stock. This category of racing has been very popular and very competitive in recent years. So what you will be doing is take part in this intense level of racing to try to go for victory. Look for GT-spec cars such as the BMW Z4 GT, the Audi R8 GT3, and machines like that to battle for victory. All five courses are world-class racing facilities that are NOT easy in the least sense. Battle hard for the win!
REQUIREMENTS:
• 650pp or less
• Racing Hard (or less) tires
RACES:
• Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit (4 laps)
• Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps (5 laps)
• Autodromo Nazionale Monza (5 laps)
• Nürburgring GP/F (5 laps)
• Suzuka Circuit (5 laps)
"Boogity boogity boogity! Let's go racin'!" NASCAR stock cars are the vehicles highlighted in this series. Stock cars are as distinctive of race cars as rally cars and any formula race car. For the first time in Gran Turismo history, there are split regulations for racing events. Oval races require you to tone down the Power Limiter to 70% or less. Road races do not have this Power Limiter restriction, and the PP limit is 680 for the road races. Unlike the NASCAR Series in GT5, each race here in GT6 are all single races. So if you find yourself losing a race you could have won, you can always restart. These races are not as easy as one may see any average NASCAR race. You aren't going to have any sort of unnecessary advantage here with some tuning. Pure skill is what this will all boil down to. Collect half of the Stars for the International A races to get yourself a stock car without having to buy one yourself. Otherwise, feel free to pick out a stock car from the likes of Chevrolet, Ford, or Toyota. I still find it sad there are no Dodge stock cars in GT5 or GT6, but that's another story.
NOTE: This series has split regulations for ovals and road courses.
REQUIREMENTS:
• 600pp or less on oval courses, 680pp or less on road courses
• Racing Hard (or less) tires
• Power Limiter 70.0% or less (only for the oval races)
• any NASCAR stock car
RACES:
• Daytona International Speedway (5 laps; set Power Limiter to 70.0% or less for this event)
• Willow Springs International Raceway - Big Willow (5 laps)
• High Speed Ring (5 laps)
• Twin Ring Super Speedway (5 laps; set Power Limiter to 70.0% or less for this event)
• Indianapolis Motor Speedway (5 laps; set Power Limiter to 70.0% or less for this event)
The fourth-ever "Like the Wind" competition in Gran Turismo is just as intense as the other "Like the Wind" competitions. It debuted in Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec with a 40-lap race around Test Course. This event has always been about insane top speed. All of these courses are courses you can use to go seriously fast. Make sure you tune your car for high horsepower and top speed. However, keep your car within the 750pp limit. Your car can only be so fast while not overstepping the boundaries. Once you find that delicate balance, bring your speed demon to this championship and go compete hard.
REQUIREMENTS:
• 750pp or less
• Racing Hard (or less) tires
RACES:
• Indianapolis Motor Speedway (5 laps)
• Special Stage Route 7 (1 lap)
• Special Stage Route X (1 lap)
You must have 25 Stars in this set to unlock the GT World Championship. Here is a look at this championship:
The Gran Turismo World Championship is the pinnacle of racing in Gran Turismo. It always has been the showcase of the fastest race cars in the game on some of the most intense racing tracks the game has to offer. It is (to me) the most prestigious and most challenging racing series of any major Gran Turismo. This is the perfect opportunity to solidify your status as the greatest racer in the Gran Turismo realm. Do you have the car, the talent, and the energy necessary to win the GT World Championship? Take this one with great seriousness and battle hard to become champion. If you don't have a competent high-end race car by now, go invest in one. Invest in cars like the Audi R18 TDI or even the Bentley EXP GT to use in your journey of this championship.
REQUIREMENTS:
• 750 or less
• Racing Hard (or less) tires
RACES:
• Mount Panorama Motor Racing Circuit (4 laps)
• Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca (6 laps)
• Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps (5 laps)
• Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit (5 laps)
• Nürburgring 24h (2 laps)
Win the Gran Turismo World Championship to unlock the Super License tests. If you clear the Super License tests, get ready for the final set of races guaranteed to push you like you've never been pushed before- the Super races!
Congratulations if you were able to get all the Stars for this set of races. This is absolutely NOT easy. And guess what? If you don't think it's going to get harder, think again. Your punishment continues when you take on the Super races. So get ready for the Super races! Until then, thank you for reading!

Even though Gran Turismo is often seen as an encyclopedia of automobiles, the real pleasure and enjoyment in Gran Turismo is in racing. A literal world of cars await you with hundreds of opportunities to enjoy racing to the max. There are many more official events in Gran Turismo 6 than in Gran Turismo 5. Speaking of GT5, if you thought GT5 was more loose in restrictions, prepare for a much more limited batch of races restriction-wise. Race Events and series are limited to various amounts of Performance Points (PP). So if you enjoyed using a Pagani Zonda R to beat Honda Civics and Mazda Miatas in GT5, get ready to fight more of a fair fight in GT6.New Changes to Gran Turismo 6 Racing.
There are two new twists to race events in Gran Turismo 6 compared to other GT titles.First of all, the experience system from Gran Turismo 5 is no more. You now have to collect Stars to advance. Rainmasters.
"A race event themed around adverse weather conditions, and open only to rear-wheel drive non-racing cars. How will you handle the unpredictable and erratic rainfall?"Rain is the great equalizer in motorsport. All three races of this set of races are contested under wet conditions, and only rear-wheel drive cars are allowed. Dream Car Championship!
"The watchwords here are power and speed. This is a five-race championship for the fastest of the fast - the dream machines!"I think Polyphony Digital would define "Dream Car" as any fictional race car tuned by the Gran Turismo team. The Dream Car Championship debuted in Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec, and it has been featured in every GT since. So this inclusion marks the fourth Dream Car Championship in Gran Turismo history. GT Kart Championship 125 Shifter!
"A championship race in which advanced drivers must drive Gran Turismo 125 Shifter racing karts, fitted with six-speed transmission and front brakes. Enjoy the supreme acceleration of shifter karts!"The fastest-possible racing karts are featured in this Championship. This is the final kart racing challenge among the regular set of races. Make sure you have the Racing Kart 125 Shifter. What makes this kart different from the others? This kart is the only one you can buy in GT6 equipped with a transmission.

This is a hard-fought battle over five challenging rounds!"Japan's premier category of motorsport is in Super GT (formerly the All-Japan Grand Touring Car Championship (JGTC)). You will only be racing the GT300 class of competition of Super GT for this championship. This is the lower class of Super GT. The cars that race in this class of Super GT are lower-spec machines that aren't as powerful and are more based on not-as-powerful cars. Group GT3 Series!
"This race event is aimed at cars of the Group GT3 class - racing cars tuned on production-line models modified to a set of standards approved by the FIA. This is a high-end series over five races for serious contenders only!"If you want intense GT racing, look no further than GT3-level racing. Gran Turismo NASCAR Cup.
"This is a race event exclusively for stock cars of America's iconic NASCAR category. Experience the high-octane, close-quarters thrills unique to the stock car experience! Use of restrictor plates are required for Super Speedway racing. Make sure you adjust your Power Limiter in the Car Settings menu.""Boogity boogity boogity!
Like the Wind.
"A fierce fight between high-powered racing cars to see who will be the fastest. Use the slipstream to your advantage, and propel yourself into the lead!"The fourth-ever "Like the Wind" competition in Gran Turismo is just as intense as the other "Like the Wind" competitions.

{GT World Championship!}
"In the world of Gran Turismo, this is the race event to end all race events. Your opponents will be champion drivers from all over the world, and you'll be facing them in a grueling five-race championship. Put everything you've learned so far into practice, and take that spot on the podium you've been working so hard to earn!"The Gran Turismo World Championship is the pinnacle of racing in Gran Turismo.
