Global CyberLympics an International Computer Network Defense Competition Announces the Global Results for Rounds 1 through 3

(PR Web Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) (PRWEB) September 16, 2013 Global CyberLympics is an international online ethical hacking, computer network defense game. Currently in its third year, Global CyberLympics is excited to announce the 2013 global results thus far. The 2013 competition consisted of more than 6,400 players spanning 70 different countries. This year’s Global CyberLympics competition featured a banking theme, where the participants had to solve a series of challenges as if they were hired as independent IT security contractors to figure out who hacked a bank’s network. For the 1st round, the Forensics challenge, teams had to look for a series of clues to figure out who defaced the bank’s website. In Round 2, the computer network defense competition, teams had to harden and secure network systems, to keep malicious people off the bank’s server network. Finally, for Round 3, the Pen test competition teams had to identify the malicious hackers IP addresses and extract information about the Hackers during the pen test. Each game round featured eliminations, until only the top 2 teams remained to represent their continent in the world finals. The Runner Up teams from each region will have to play in a preliminary round, competing for one spot to play in the Finals round with the top teams from each continent. To add to the intensity of the games, the two time reigning world champions Team Hack.ERS from the Netherlands will also be playing in the world finals to defend their title.
