We’re on road to Mongolia

A YOUNG Malvern couple are due to enter Mongolia in the next few days during the latest part of an epic roundthe- world road trip.

Mike Ferguson and Jess Heath left Worcestershire three weeks ago ahead of a 16,000-mile adventure back to their current home in Sydney, Australia.

The charity trip, which they are making in a modest Renault Clio, will raise money for two charities.

Twenty-five-year-old Jess, who used to live in West Malvern Road, said the trip is exciting as well as tiring.

“It’s pretty exhausting stuff, driving for six/seven hours a day and the Friday before last we drove for 13 hours,” she said.

“Some of the road conditions have been more than bad.”

The couple are currently in Uzbekistan – the 13th country they have passed through – and are due to cross into Kyrgyzstan and then Mongolia in the coming days.

They have so far crossed south-east Europe, taking in countries including Italy, Slovenia, Romania and Ukraine.

Awaiting them are, among others, Cambodia, Thailand and Indonesia.

Mike, aged 29, used to live on Summerfield Road, Malvern Link.

Before setting off on the trip he said he was “probably more nervous that Jess”, adding the things he missed from Malvern include the Nag’s Head and a cup of tea at the St Ann’s Well café.
