Mongolia's first wind farm ready
The 50MW installation at Salkhit, south of the capital, Ulaanbaatar, was developed by Clean Energy, a unit of locally based investment firm Newcom Group.
GE has supplied 31 1.6MW turbines for the $122m project, which is the country’s largest new energy installation in three decades, according to Bloomberg.
Meanwhile, President Tsakhia Elbegdorj told Reuters this week that Mongolia plans to aggressively develop wind and solar.
In April, the Global Wind Energy Council identified Mongolia as one of several significant new markets for 2013.
