2012 Inner Mongolia Winter Ice and Snow Nadam Fair kicks off
The opening ceremony of 2012 Inner Mongolia Winter Ice and Snow Nadam Fair as well as the Fire Sacrifice Festival of Chenbaerhu Grassland was held in Hulun Buir, north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region on Dec. 24, 2012.
Nadam, which means entertainment or games in Mongolian, is regarded as a great festival. Nadam, in fact, is a large entertainment gathering for celebrating the harvest. On the occasion, archery, horse race, and wrestling matches are held. There are also such folk and tourist activities as fairs, ceremonies offering sacrifices to obo, horse looping, horse taming, horse riding, folk songs and dances, wedding ceremonies of various ethnic groups, and fashion shows.
