Mongolia wins silver and bronze at World University Wrestling Championship
The 10th World University Wrestling Championship is currently taking place in Kuortane, Finland.
Mongolian athlete and student at the National University of Physical Education – S.Batbold, won the bronze medal in the men’s 55 kg freestyle category. S.Batbold began his matches on October 2 by beating a Bulgarian wrestler in the first round. He beat Anatolii Buryan of Moldavia by 1:0 and 2:1 in the next round and proceeded to the medal bout where he lost to Zacharu Sanders of the USA. Batbold however, made another bout for bronze against Steven Takahashi of Canada and beat him with scores of 4:0, 1:2 and 3:1.
Other Mongolian men freestyle wrestlers B.Usukhbayar in the men’s 60 kg and B.Batmagnai in the men’s 66 kg, unfortunately lost to their opponents in the first round.
International sports master E.Davaachimeg competed in the women’s 51 kg freestyle and won silver medal.
She beat Merva Kenjer of Turkey in the second round by 1:0 and 4:0. She competed against Haruka Hirano of Japan in the semifinals where she won her opponent by 2:0, 0:4, and 6:0. Her final match was against Genevieve Haley of Canada in which she was lost by 0:1 and 0:3.
