Mongolians in UK shows support to Paralympics athletes
The XIV Paralympics is currently underway in London. The UB post previously reported that six Mongolian athletes are competing in the games in four sports categories. Judokas A.Munkhbat and D.Ganbathave concluded their games and though they didn’t win medals, they proudly represented Mongolia. Archers, B.Javzmaa and B.Oyun-Erdene, also ended their games.
International sports master B.Javzmaa ranked 4th in her division.
While they are competing for our country, Mongolians who are residing in the UK launched a donation campaign in order to show their support for the Mongolian Paralympics team. Donations totalling about 3 million MNT was raised which will be used for buying a wheelchair for the Mongolian Para-athletics Federation. Last week there was also a charity event to raise donations for the Paralympics team at the Mongolian Function House in London. Athletes, trainers and other official members of the Paralympics team including Paralympic judoka D.Ganbat, and Ch.Munkh-Erdene attended the event alongside other Mongolians in London. During this event, Mongolians in the UK performed poem readings by student Oyun-Erdene, Morin Khuur playing and throat singer Bat-Erdene sang.
The organisers of the event said, ‘Mongolia is supporting the athletes and providing them with the required equipment compared to the past. We organised this donation campaign to support our athletes.’ This event was initiated by A.Oyuntugs, B.Delgertsetseg, E.Ariunsaikhan,Kh.Odonchimeg, the National Safety Movement, Mongolians Federation, Association of Mongolian Women in Europe and the ‘Queensway Carco’ organisation.
