All new students to take oath
Traditionally, only new students to graduate as teachers, soldiers, police and lawyers take an oath in Mongolia. It’s been a few years since all new students started to take an oath at the beginning of their first academic year of university regardless their major. This year’s oath taking ceremony is to be held on September 3 at Sukhbaatar Square. Over ten thousand students took the oath last year. The oath states, “I, who own the present and the future of my mother country, promise to study hard and grow as an individual who is educated, skilled, honest, caring and patriotic with solid morals and devote my abilities to strengthen Mongolian development in front of my teachers, family, friends and the people of Mongolia.” The Mongolian Student Union sent official documents to universities, requesting to enroll all the new students in the Oath Taking Ceremony.
At the ceremony, the President of Mongolia, the Prime Minister, the Speaker of the Parliament and the Minister of Education and Science will take part and students will line up according to their universities.
Companies like the Labour Exchange of Ulaanbaatar, ‘Be’ brand of Mobicom, the National Amusement Park and Language Education Centres will hold an open day as well. In the evening, an all-star concert will be organized. Over 30 bands and singers will perform their songs for free.
