CUSTOMS OFFICE HEAD MEETS KDI'S DELEGATION

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ Head of the General Customs Office (GCO) D.Tseveenjav received on Thursday a delegation of the Korea Development Institute (KDI). They have shared views on a export ptomoting program being implemented jointly with the Finance Ministry, on distributing Korean experience of the intensive development and cooperating in it.


At the meeting, the GCO head briefed the South Korean delegation on a present development and structure of the Mongolia's customs body, measures of facilitating the external trade, a reform for customs in Mongolia and its management, and also introduced to them the Mongolia's external trade turnover and a comparison of the export and import made in last five years.



In response, the KDI expressed its willingness to co-implement a project with the GCO from the next year on specific matters. They highly appreciated the GCO's achievement in facilitating trade.



Present at this meeting were Yo.Bat-Erdene, head of the Human resource and public administration department of the GCO; D.Erdenesuren, a deputy head of the GCO's department of strategy and planning; and M.Olziibat, head of the department of finance, economics and investment affairs.



Founded in 1971, the KDI is an autonomous economic policy think tank that was set up by the South Korean government during a period of fast economic growth, to provide research and analysis of economic policy decisions. One of its goals is to produce economic forecasts for government officials, private corporations, and the general public.



This year, the KDI launched a program on supporting export together with the Mongolia's Ministry of Finance to cooperate in increasing number of export products, reducing the dependence of the mining sector in Mongolia, supporting small- and middle-sized productions, producing and exporting final products instead of supplying only raw materials and augmenting export of agricultural products.
