Renault Alpine 110-50 Concept.

It has been 50 years Since the original Renault Alpine A 110 set the sports/ rally world ablaze, with is long sleek design and nimble prowess, for three years it was world rally champion. So at the Monaco Grand Prix celebrating the 50 years since the original was revealed. The 110-50 is inspired by the all electric DeZir that was shown at the 2010 Paris motor show. Having the similar wide aggressive stance, beautifully curvaceous shape and large Renault badges it pays true homage to the original. Air intakes on the side are said to represent the wheel arches of the original and the "Alpine Blue" paint job is a tribute to the 60's model.

This car is clearly meant for racing, as it has a Formula one-inspired six speed sequential gear box transferring it to the rear wheels. Pushing the power through is a 3,5 liter V6 that punches out 395 bhp. No official figures yet but with a Kerb weight at 880 kgs expect the 0-100 km/h in around the 3 second mark. The body is full carbon-fiber and has a tubular frame chassis borrowed from the Megan Trophy racing car. The design of the car is set for speed and performance with splinters in the front bumper and a rear diffuser, which generates one third of the cars down force. The rest is provided by the adjustable rear spoiler, the car also has adjustable Sachs dampers.

The new Renault has not had an official release date or much info released about it. All we can say from the things we have heard and seen, we suspect a very fast, very expensive and competitive super car, that will worry some of the big boys. That fact of the matter is that we are very interested to see were this project goes and are very happy they decided not to go with the all electric motor version.
