Mini-Bold-Me
52 Years ago the Mini was born. And straight way it was an icon. Loved by many. And many who love it. And still do. Till this day. A car without definition, nothing big, nothing fancy, nothing that shouts out your name like a thief. Simple, elegant, small and a joy to have.
Now a millions of years later, the iconic Mini was reincarnated but with a catch. It seems the Mini tree has evolved into different species. From the Mini hatch, convertible, countryman, coupe and now today’s topic the roadster. Right.
Well, firstly it’s a Mini so it should be cool. And probably is, depending on who you are. Based on the Mini, it’s about the same size but there are only two seats (unlike its coupe sibling), space for roll bars, a boot to accommodate the roof and also a bigger then what you get in the coupe version. Styling hasn’t changed regardless of its morphed shape. So It’s still a Mini. We think.
If so, then it should be a joy to drive as any of the other models and yes of course more floppy because there’s no roof. Just push the sport button and you’ll forget your hair is being dried by Mother Nature or make you feel as if you’re driving a Go-kart. Sounds promising. Then Again it should. It’s a Mini. That’s what they do.
Basic engines are the basic engines. The nice ones are the Copper S and John Cooper Works. Both feature the 1.6L, four pot turbo unit. The Cooper S pumps 184hp/135kw. 240Nm. 0-100km/h in 7 seconds. Top speed of 227km/h. The Works pumps 211hp/155kw. 260Nm. 0-100 in 6.5 seconds. And a top speed of 237km/h.
Should be a nice breeze over your head and around your neck and in your ears and, and, and should just be a nice breeze. Not the world’s best convertible but good car nevertheless.
Happy Shopping.
