Mongolia Strengthens Cooperation with NATO
Ulan Bator, Mar 29 (Prensa Latina) Mongolia is broadening its cooperation with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization under a new partnership program approved recently, according to an official communique released on Thursday in this capital.
The Foreign Ministry says in the note that the alliance is aimed at promoting mutual understanding through consultations and cooperation.
It is also based on a commitment to peace, democracy, human rights and international law and security.
Under the program, Mongolia is required to cooperate with NATO on security, disaster prevention, training and exchange of personnel, according to the source.
The Mongolia-NATO links have been increasingly strengthened, with close contacts among high-ranking officials and exchanges of visits.
Mongolia is considered a valuable partner of NATO. Since 2010, its military contingent is under the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan.
Mongolia also contributed two contingents to back NATO mission in Kosovo in 2005-2007, according to official data.
