The Ferrari F40.
Arguably the best supercar of all time. The car that opened and gave the world new boundaries to aim for. The one that discovered and showed us that no barrier is too great to conquer. Enzo Ferrari’s last ooorahhh before his death. This is when you give a great man, great ambitions. He sits in the smallest room of the house and comes up with a complete new era in life. The supercar era that is.

In 1987, the F40 was a dream to many car lovers. A machine like no other. Completely new design from Pininfarina to Ferrari themselves. A shape like no other, made from carbon fibre, aluminium and even Kevlar. The fastest, most powerful and expensive car on the road.

A 2.9L twin turbo V8 with a power output of 471hp (352kw), thumped the 1100 kg weight to 100 km/h in 3.2 sec and braking the magical 321 km/h or 200 mph speed barrier. The first road legal car to do so.
The F40 was made to carry its reputation from the GTO name of its successors. It also contained a message to Porsche with their 959, its main competitor at the time. But reading on, we find that at the time Ferrari wasn’t doing to good in motorsport. And it’s as if this machine was created sort of like an apology to its adoring fans. A similar trait we find today when they don’t perform in motorsport but make a great car.

Nevertheless if it weren’t for this prancing horse, supercars of today wouldn’t be where they are.
