Audi’s Geneva Hot Rod
The Audi stand at the Geneva Motor Show, will try and contain an all new brut from the stable. That brut will be the new RS4 which at the moment is being displayed in estate/wagon/Avant form. But knowing Audi there will probably be a salon to follow up with time.
Anyway the car in question has had a lot of new touches added to it. Starting with a new Quattro system with self locking crown-gear center diff and torque vectoring system that allows 70 percent power to the front and 85 percent power to the rear wheels. New 19 inch rims house the new front and rear suspension with dynamic ride control, revised 365mm brake disc and callipers, and carbon ceramic on the option list.
One thing that won't be an option, is a six-speed manual but a seven-speed S tronic auto that comes from the RS5. Another thing (and quite a big thing that it borrows from the RS5), is its 4.2 FSI V8 engine. This RS model was scared it would be downgraded to a tiny force inducted V6, like the new S5. So it kicked its big brother in the balls, took what belongs to him and then ran very quickly behind mommy so she would stand up for it. And by all means it work. Featuring 450hp (331kw), 430 nm torque, 0-100km/h in 4.7 sec with a customer request of 280 km/h. Neat work from the German.
Guess now the Autobahn has a new born hot rod wagon to contain. Probably with a dog in the big boot.
