TRANSPORT SECTOR IN STATISTICAL MIRROR
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ In January of 2012, 1,733.8 thousand tons freight and 293.7 thousand passengers--at a duplicated number--were carried by railway transport.
The number of carried freight rose by 388.7 thousand tons or 28.9 per cent, the number of the passengers carried--by 0.7 thousand people or 0.3 per cent against 2011.
It led to an increase in revenue from railway transport by MNT 8.0 billion 31.9 per cent to MNT 32.9 billion against the previous year.
By air transport, 302.3 tons freight and 46.2 thousand passengers (at a duplicated number) were carried. The number of the freight increased 173.7 tons or 2.3 times, of the passengers--by 9.7 thousand people or 26.5 per cent against 2011. It helped to increase revenue by MNT 2.5 billion or 28.2 per cent to MNT 11.6 billion in against the previous year.
