5 Random facts about Robert 'Bob' Kubica

In 2007, while everyone was following the hype of Hamilton I chose to follow a young Polish lad called Robert. Kubica was a constant up setter in races with a handful of bad luck spells preventing him from winning. The fact he could drive meh cars and reach the podium was commendable. After rumors of making a switch to Ferrari, his future looked even brighter however, Massa retained his contract leaving Kubica stuck at Renault. Nevertheless this season seemed promising as his R30 Renault was a top runner in pre season testing and looked to cause a stir in the chase for the constructors championship. Recently however a major accident has sidelined him for the 2011 season and maybe forever. Along with a broken leg and arm, the major injury came from a partial amputation of his hand. Here are just some snippets of info about Kubica that I thought I'd share.

1) He's the first Polish F1 driver
2) He's the 99th person to win an F1 race [Kovalainen is #100]
3) His only win @ the 08 Canadian GP is the only win on record for BMW Sauber
4) At the 07 Canadian GP he was involved in one of the worst crashes ever in modern F1 history [his absence due to injuries lead to Vettel getting a race seat]
5) His height and weight has been a constant disadvantage in racing and has lead to F1 cars having higher minimum weights in order to level the playing field for tall drivers like Kubica [and his teammate Petrov

Get well soon man.
