Dalanzadgad gets children’s cinema house
Ulaanbaatar no longer has any theater or cinema house exclusively for children but Galaxy in Dalanzadgad of Umnugobi aimag is a success. Work on it was stalled soon after its foundation was laid in 1990. Finally a local businessman bought the place and built a Children’s Palace there in 2008. Now, Galaxy has been added to its attractions.
It shows films on scientific topics, on nature and animal life in the Gobi, and such educational documentaries. The Head of an NGO called Environment Friendly Children’s Union, Kh.Tumenjargal, has made the interior design of the cinema, with photographs of the dinosaur egg that was found in the 1960s, and other products of the Gobi. The cinema has 2,000 seats and adults pay MNT2,500 for a ticket, while the rate for children is MNT1,000.
